A TOWERING new residential design benchmark is set to rise on the Gold Coast, inspired by the city’s tropical modernism past and its contemporary status as Australia’s luxury quintessential coastal living mecca.

Plans for a stunning 22-level collection of coastal residences have been lodged with Gold Coast council that will take design-led development in the prized beachside suburb of Broadbeach to a new level.

The 9-11 Armrick Avenue project is the first foray on the Gold Coast for family-owned and multi award-winning Brisbane-based developer Turrisi Properties.

It will comprise a total of 81 luxurious residences, including two and three-bedroom apartments and three and four-bedroom penthouses.

Established in 2000, Turrisi Properties founder and managing director Gaetano Turrisi has delivered more than 6000 residential land lots and residences to South-East Queensland in the last 35 years, worth in excess of $2 billion.

“We are passionate about the development of the highest quality bespoke residences in Southeast Queensland and excited to be bringing our design standard to the Gold Coast,” said Turrisi Properties managing director, Gaetano Turrisi.

“As our debut project on the Gold Coast, this is an opportunity for us to enhance one of the world’s most famous beachfront skylines and we have not made any compromises in crafting a well-designed residential tower with liveability as the top priority.”

Designed by renowned architecture firm Rothelowman, the proposed development at 9-11 Armrick Avenue pays homage to the Gold Coast’s mid-century past that echoes tropical modernism, with its deep eaves and edges as well as other architectural elements that enhance the experience of the surrounding natural environment.

“The design of our Armrick Avenue project encapsulates the quintessential coastal experience, including an operable façade that allows residents to tune their environment to the current conditions and is a short walk to the beach, a surf club, Norfolk pines and a bowls club - the existing collection of civic offerings allows for the creation of a new civic promenade along Armrick Avenue,” Mr Turrisi said.

“Also, the contemporary but timeless design elements of the development are enhanced by extensive podium and rooftop communal amenities that add value to residents as well as the local community.”

The podium communal recreation area features a gym, pool, sundeck, spa, sunken lounge, dining and teppanyaki/ barbecue facilities. On the rooftop, the communal amenity includes a  private dining room with kitchen and TV facilities as well as an open air spritz bar overlooking the beach.

Adding to the project’s high-end design appeal, Armrick Avenue’s three top-level penthouses will each boast their own private rooftop recreation decks, accessed via internal stairs, with a spa, kitchen, living and dining facilities.

On the ground level, a landscaped tropical formal entry and beach entry with beach showers, Zen Garden and surf craft room sets the coastal tone and lush ambience of the sophisticated and yet casual contemporary living offered by the project.

As the design statement submitted with the project’s development application declares: “The Gold Coast is a visceral place that has always allowed us to make memories and mark time. We need an architecture that emphasises the visceral and allows people to capture the everyday”.
